First property in prestigious hotel group to receive LEED® Certification
Hong Kong, 27 November 2009 – Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas, a sophisticated sanctuary of modern elegance at CityCenter in Las Vegas, has achieved LEED® Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). It is the first hotel in the prestigious Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group to receive a LEED rating, and marks the sixth LEED Gold certification for CityCenter, which is one of the world's largest sustainable developments upon opening this December.
“Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is known for demonstrating its leadership in the hotel industry. We are honored to be the Group’s first LEED Gold certified hotel,” said Rajesh Jhingon, General Manager of Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas.

• Floor-to-ceiling windows enhance the guest experience by providing abundant natural light and impressive views, while reducing the need for artificial lighting
• Non-toxic paints, sealants, adhesives, carpet and composite wood products have been used in Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas

The advanced architecture of Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas’ exterior was designed by the award-winning firm Kohn Pedersen Fox. One of the key aims when designing Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas was to achieve a building design that was as durable and energy efficient as possible within the taxing Las Vegas climate. Based atop a podium made of zinc, titanium, granite and limestone, the building rises vertically into a façade that draws inspiration from traditional Chinese motifs. Interiors have been designed by Adam D. Tihany with the infusion of contemporary elegance and delicate artful Asian influences.
As part of CityCenter, Mandarin Oriental, Las Vegas brings a new level of environmental consciousness to the world-famous Strip. CityCenter is one of the world's largest sustainable developments upon opening this December, from design and construction to operations and guest amenities. An extraordinary urban resort destination brought to life by eight world-renowned architects, CityCenter achieved LEED® Gold certifications for ARIA Resort’s hotel tower, ARIA's convention center and theater, Vdara Hotel & Spa, Crystals retail and entertainment district and the residential Veer Towers.
